Osama says, “Cross-cultural coaching is the norm for many leadership development professionals and for many of us coaches. Therefore, understanding the client culture is a crucial benefit for us and for the human resources community in optimizing the coach-client relationship. in the design of individualized coaching interventions and in maximizing the return on coaching.
Osama also stresses the need to select coaching and conversation tools wisely, seek permissions, be sensitive to cultural hot buttons, neutralize unconscious prejudices towards the Middle East, and improve psychological safety by avoiding; stereotypes, judgments, misperceptions and always pay attention to the messing machine in the head of the coaches.
The Middle Eastern demand for validation and directive coaching requires in-depth orientation beforehand, careful consideration of co-ability, and a clear coaching agreement.
Osama adds that developing the coaching skills of Middle Eastern leaders will have a tremendous impact on empowering high potential employees who may find themselves in repressive circumstances. And, developing a coaching culture in organizations operating from the Middle East, developing a coaching culture will minimize disruption and create more cohesive and inclusive teams.
