It seems your potential is no longer Microsoft’s passion. The old slogan – which has been used for the company’s branding since 2002 – has now been withdrawn and replaced with a new slogan.
The new slogan is “Be What’s Next” and will now appear alongside the company logo on all promotional material. The slogan was chosen last summer to replace the “Your Potential, Our Passion” slogan that has been used since Windows XP was still a new operating system. However, this is the first time that the new slogan has been used. The company logo has also been changed, though you’d be hard pressed to spot any real differences.
The new branding is launched with two commercials – one for Bing, the other for Windows Phone 7 – which aired during the Golden Globe Awards last night. The two feature a number of struggling actors discussing the trials and tribulations of their profession, before pre-congratulating the “Golden Globe winners of tomorrow”, who we don’t yet know, but “we will know him.”
These might not be the funniest or most creative spots the software giant has come up with lately, but they’re simple, effective, and certainly seem to fit the new branding well.
